Summer Programs 

Jazz Jam

MKA will offer a one-week Summer Jazz Jam for young musicians entering grades 5-8, from Monday, July 28-Friday, August 1, 2008.

Enjoy a fun and instructive week learning from jazz professionals at The Montclair Kimberley Academy’s Summer Jazz Jam.  Located in MKA’s new Peter R. Greer Arts Wing, Summer Jazz Jam will run daily from 1:00 p.m. - 5:15 p.m.  Instruction will cover the rudiments of playing jazz, music theory and improvisation, and will culminate with a performance at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, August 1.

Summer Jazz Jam’s accomplished faculty include Vic Firth clinician and author of Drum Set Systems, Matt Patuto, (drums/keyboard), performer with many New York bands, including Dr. Nerve, the Walter Thompson Orchestra and Diane Moser’s Composer’s Big Band, Rob Henke (brass), international recording artist and New School faculty member Andy McKee (bass/guitar) and Head of the MKA Middle School Fine and Performing Arts Department and Band and Jazz Band Director, Linda Larkin (woodwind).
