Check
Please make checks payable to The Montclair Kimberley Academy (MKA). If
checks are not enclosed in a school-provided gift envelope, or
accompanied by a letter of explanation, please indicate on the check
memo line either Annual Giving or the name of the endowed fund the gift
is intended to benefit. Mail checks to: The Montclair Kimberley
Academy/External Affairs, 201 Valley Rd., Montclair, NJ 07042.
Credit Card
MKA accepts Mastercard, Visa, and American Express. MKA's gift envelope
provides space for entry of card number and expiration date.
Credit card gifts can also be made over the phone by calling Geoff Branigan, Director of External Affairs at 973-509-7940.
COMING SOON FOR YOUR CONVENIENCE - SECURE ONLINE GIVING.
Gifts of Stock and Appreciated Securities
Gifts of appreciated securities can be particularly beneficial to both
you and MKA. Long-term securities (held more than one year) earn a
deduction on their fair market value on the day of the gift, and
neither MKA nor the donor is subject to capital gains tax on said gift.
Gifts of readily marketable securities will be credited at fair market
value at the average of the high and low quoted selling price on the
date the donor relinquishes control of the asset. Please contact MKA
before making a stock transfer so you are properly credited.
To facilitate the transfer of stock gifts, complete and submit to your broker MKA's
Securities Transfer Instruction Form. To obtain the form, contact Laurie Hoonhout McFeeley, Director of Alumni Giving & Planned Giving at 973-509-7939.
Gifts of Tangible Property (Gifts-In-Kind)
The acceptance of gifts-in-kind is made on a case-by-case basis, with
the primary criteria the gift's ability to further the mission of MKA.
The school is prohibited by law to appraise the value of gifts of
personal property in any form. For donations of personal property over
$500, the donor must complete the appropriate IRS forms for tax
deduction purposes.
Real Estate
Donors may deed property outright to MKA, transfer ownership of some or
all of a piece of property to MKA while retaining residency rights, or
include real estate in a bequest to MKA.
All gifts of real estate are subject to advance approval by the school.

Corporate Matching Gifts
You may be able to double or triple the value of your gift to MKA if
you are employed by one of the many companies, or their divisions,
subsidiaries, or affiliates, with matching gift programs. Some
employers will match contributions of spouses, directors, or retirees,
as well as those of employees. To make your contributions grow, simply
obtain a matching gift form from your company's Matching Gift
Coordinator (usually in the Human Resources or Community Relations
department), fill it out and send it in with your contribution.
In all matters related to charitable giving, donors are advised to consult their own legal, tax, and financial advisors.
