On-going Capital Campaigns are periodically implemented as part of
MKA's Long- Range Plan to attract the highest caliber faculty and
students, and to continually upgrade and improve the physical plant at
all three campuses. Past campaigns have led to the construction of the
all-weather Van Brunt Field, the Dr. Peter R. Greer Arts Wing, and the
installation of state-of-the-art technology on all three campuses.
Capital gifts are generally larger than Annual Giving gifts, and
usually take the form of a pledge that can be paid over three to five
years. As with Annual Giving, employer Matching Gifts are often
available to augment and enhance a donor's generosity, and all gifts
are fully tax deductible.
Strong endowment growth ensures that MKA has the financial stability to
continue its tradition of excellence well into the future.
Endowment funds are
segregated trust accounts usually designed for specific projects
or programs, or for the school program as a whole, and these funds are
similar to savings accounts or other financial assets that generate
income. While the principal of the fund remains untouched, part of the
income generated can provide a source of revenue. Ideally, income from
a growing endowment can enhance the operating budget and help defray
tuition increases or provide crucial funding for scholarships and
financial aid, which MKA highly values in its ongoing commitment to
diversity. Teachers are the heart of a successful school and MKA is
blessed with an exceptional faculty. In an attempt to keep faculty
salaries as competitive as possible in a geographic area with an extraordinarily
high cost of living, support of the Faculty Compensation Endowment is
essential, and is a current priority of The Board of Trustees.
Increasing MKA's general endowment, through investments and
fundraising, will always be a strategic priority.
The creation of named, endowed funds offers donors the opportunity to
recognize the special role MKA, The Kimberley School, or Montclair
Academy played in their lives, or to commemorate a beloved teacher,
classmate, or family member while helping to build the school's
endowment. MKA welcomes additional gifts to existing endowments, as
well as creation of new named funds with a minimum donation of $100,000.
