Where Are They Now? (Meet Some International Heroes)

Adrienne Phillips '92 - Adrienne completed her MD at Brown and her MPH at Harvard in 2001. She then moved to Harlem, NY where she completed her residency and fellowship in oncology at Columbia and will continue on as an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine there.  She recently returned from a 6-week rotation at a cancer hospital in Tanzania and is currently in Tokyo presenting research on adult T-cell leukemia lymphoma. In medical school, Adrienne won a scholarship to study the evolution of HIV/AIDS prevention efforts in Cuba and led a mission to Jamaica for the Student National Medical Association. These accomplishments led to awards for outstanding commitment to international health (Al Senft Prize) and socially responsible medicine (David S. Greer Prize).

Doug Keh '84 - Since 2005, Doug Keh has been the Deputy Chief of Staff of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the largest agency within the UN, supporting developing countries throughout the world in reducing poverty and building up the capacity to successfully govern themselves.  Assignments at the UN have included an eight-year presence in Vienna where he began as a speechwriter for the UN Under-Secretary-General and chief speechwriter to Nobel prize winner Mohammed El-Baradei, head of the International Atomic Energy Agency.  Doug also worked with UNICEF in Sierra Leone, where he helped document UNICEF's efforts to immunize 80% of the world's children against 6 preventable diseases.  Since returning to NY in 2001, Doug's work with the UN has focused on recovery support to post-conflict and post-crisis situations, which has included an assignment in Indonesia, the epicenter of the Tsunami in January 2005. Doug worked with the UNDP team to help the local government remove rubble and tens of thousands of bodies, as well as launching employment generation projects to get families' lives back in order.

We wish everyone a fantastic summer and look forward to seeing many of you in October at Homecoming 2007 or wherever your journeys take you.  As you can see, MKA alums are making an impact around the world.

All the very best,

The Montclair Kimberley Academy Alumni Council
