Identity
An independent, coeducational, college-preparatory day school for boys and girls, grades pre-kindergarten through 12, distinguished by its three Signature Programs.
History
Dating to 1887, with roots in three institutions: Montclair Academy, a boys' school founded in 1887; The Kimberley School, a girls' school founded in 1906; and Brookside, a progressive school for young children founded in 1925.

1,040 students, drawn from 80 communities across 10 counties in northern New Jersey.
Diversity
A strength of MKA, with over a fifth of our students reflecting the racial
and ethnic diversity of northern New Jersey. African-American students
make up over 10% of our student body. MKA's students come from a
variety of cultural, religious and family backgrounds, but share a
commitment to education and character.
Faculty
A committed and highly qualified group of 145 men and women, 69% of whom hold advanced degrees. Over 12% hold doctorates. Our senior faculty member has taught at MKA since 1969.

Three campuses - for the Primary, Middle, and Upper Schools - all within close proximity in Montclair, New Jersey.

Athletics
Interscholastic sports are offered in grades 6-12. Facilities
include a 6-lane indoor pool, 7 tennis courts, 3 gyms, a
state-of-the-art artificial surface athletic field, 2 other fields, a
1/4-mile track, and a wrestling gym. Sports offered include
baseball, basketball, cross country, fencing, field hockey, football,
golf, ice hockey, lacrosse, soccer, softball, swimming, tennis,
volleyball, track and field, and wrestling.
The Arts
There are extensive opportunities at every grade level in the visual
arts, drama, vocal and instrumental music, and dance, enriched by a
faculty of practicing artists and by many visiting artists.
Opportunities are both curricular, which are mandatory for all
students, and co-curricular, for students who choose to pursue an
interest.
Transportation
Busing to and from school is available, and features curb-to-curb service from all towns in Essex County and many in surrounding counties. Contact the Admissions Office for details.

Financial Aid
Over $2.7 million was awarded to students in 2007-08. Aid is available on a needs basis only; no aid is awarded for merit. Students in grades 6-12 are eligible.
